Does Your Key or Remote Need Programming?
Almost all vehicles from 2000 and newer use transponder (chip) keys that require programming. Many remotes can be programmed yourself, and when DIY is possible the product page includes a Programming Instructions tab.
If it needs the car’s computer, we handle it in shop or mobile. See car key programming for details.
What Customers Say About Our Service
Car Key & Fob FAQ
If I lost all my keys and order online, do I need to tow my car for programming?
Only at the dealer. In the Phoenix metro, ACME comes to your vehicle and programs on site. Outside Phoenix, a local locksmith can do the same.
Does my car key need programming?
Almost all vehicles from 2000 and newer use transponder (chip) keys that require programming. Some can be programmed by the car owner, most will need a locksmith.
Does my car remote require programming?
Yes, remotes must be programmed, but many replacement remotes can be programmed yourself without connecting to the car’s computer. Look for the Programming Instructions tab on the product page.
My car remote buttons work but the car will not start. Why?
Key and remote electronics are separate even when they share one housing. The remote portion can be DIY-programmed, but the transponder that starts the car still needs to be programmed to the vehicle.
Do laser-cut keys require programming?
Most high-security laser-cut keys are transponder keys and need programming, though not all of them do.
What is a proximity fob?
A proximity fob starts a push-button vehicle without inserting a key. These fobs must be programmed to the car.
How can I tell if my replacement remote will work?
If you do not see your exact button layout, one with additional buttons almost always works as long as it is the same year, make, and model and otherwise matches.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes. Order online and we ship the key, remote, or fob anywhere in the country. Take it to a local locksmith for cutting and programming, or order it pre-cut by VIN.
Why is laser key cutting more expensive?
Laser-cut keys are milled on a special machine instead of a standard cutter, and most are transponders that also need programming, so they cost more than a basic key.
What You Can Order Online

Smart Proximity Fobs
Push-button-start fobs. Always programmed to the vehicle.
Standalone Remotes

Laser-Cut High-Security Keys

What to Know Before You Order
Have your year, make, and model handy. If you do not see your exact remote button layout, a remote with extra buttons usually works as long as it is the same year, make, and model and otherwise looks the same. If your car is not listed, it’s because it is likely a dealer only item or dealer only programming. Your best bet in that case is to go to the dealer.
Many remotes include DIY programming instructions on the product page. If the part needs the car computer, bring it to our Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert, or Scottsdale shop, arrive at least an hour before closing, and we cut and program it. We ship nationwide too, take it to any local locksmith, or order it pre-cut by VIN.
